The University of Louisiana at Monroe is pleased to join the Louisiana Department of Labor in its mission to help strengthen the Louisiana economy by building a well-trained quality workforce. The Incumbent Worker Training Program and the Workforce Investment Act both offer funding for programs that support skill development and job advancement.

INCUMBENT WORKER TRAINING PROGRAM

The Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) is designed to benefit business and industry by assisting with existing employees' skill development and by increasing employee productivity and company growth. This is expected to result in the creation of new jobs, the retention of jobs that may otherwise have been eliminated, and an increase in wages for the trained workers.

Business and government act in partnership with training providers to ensure a properly trained workforce and a consistent supply of employees with the skills necessary for company growth and employee advancement.

The Incumbent Worker Training Program is a partnership between the Louisiana Department of Labor (LDOL), business and industry, and training providers. The program is funded by a portion of Unemployment Insurance (UI) tax contributions that is dedicated solely for customized training. The customized training this partnership provides produces benefits for:

  • Increased Productivity
